Police have cautioned women against walking near bushes, passageways and dark areas where criminals can easily harm them.
The warning follows the rape of three women in separate incidents in Soshanguve at the weekend, Rekord North reported.
Police spokesperson Constable Zanele Mtsweni said the three were raped at different locations.
“One woman was raped at a veld near block CC in Soshanguve, the other in block L near the TUT passage and the third in extension 1 near a passage,” she said.
She said the attacks took place in the afternoon and at night.
“The suspects allegedly pointed the victims with firearms. In some instance, the rapist took advantage after seeing that the woman was apparently drunk.”
Mtsweni said the police also arrested several people for driving under the influence of alcohol as well as for assault to cause grievous bodily harm.
