Pretending to be a car guard to hide from the police did not help an alleged housebreaker, 52, on the East Rand, Kempton Express reports.
He was identified from CCTV footage taken at the scene of the crime and promptly taken into custody by Norkem Park police on February 28.
Captain Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the station, said they received a complaint of a housebreaking in progress at 12.30pm. A patrol vehicle was immediately dispatched to the house, in Meeu Street, in Birch Acres.

Molokomme said the domestic worker saw an unknown suspect in the lapa and called her employer. He then called the police.
The suspect was spotted in the parking area of a shopping centre in Maraboe Street, where he “worked as a car guard”.
He showed police where he hid a Samsung tablet and a chainsaw under long grass and bushes.
The man will face a charge of housebreaking and theft.
