Street cars to crown Mahem racing action

The Mahem Raceway in Pretoria West will offer spectators a full programme of oval circuit racing on Saturday evening with the event crowned by a special private car race.

Should more than 20 entries be received the AAA Motors/ MBT Petroleum private car event will boast R5 000 in prize money. All owners of fast road cars are invited to enter.

To do so you simply turn up with your car plus a crash helmet, stay away from booze for the day, and meet the organisers at the pit gate.

Other action on the night will include racing for Midas V8 Sprint Cars, Thunder Sprint Cars, Rotary Midgets, Two-litre Saloon cars, Stock Rods, 1600cc Modified saloons, Pinto Saaloons and Micro Midget Karts.

The Mahem gates will be open from noon, with practice sessions for all the classes in the afternoon. Official qualifying will start at 5pm, with racing proper to commence at 7pm.

Admission is R50 per adult and R20 per for those between the ages of seven and 12.

There will be a big screen television in the bar for the rugby with food and drink on sale, or you can take your own.
