Colonel Reuben Govender has been removed from dealing with Pauw, the author of The President’s Keepers a book which has hit the top of bestseller’s lists around the country.
According to EWN, Govender had instructed Pauw to appear at the Durban North police station. Pauw’s lawyer, Willem de Klerk has said hs client would not do so. However, Govender has now been removed from the case which police had also denied opening.
“Our attorney has been engaging with him and he’s ever since refused to say why he wanted to see us and why we should report to his office. Legally, there’s absolutely no way that a police officer can tell you to report to his office.”
“Govender is a compromised police officer. There’s evidence that he does dirty work for Roy Moodley. There are several court judgments against Govender. There’s also pending civil cases against him, where he’s arrested people with an arrest warrant,” Pauw told EWN.
Since the release of the book and its wide circulation, Pauw has been served with a cease and desist letter from the State Security Agency and Sars which are covered extensively in the book.
