Zuma and Dlamini-Zuma’s daughter attacks ANC leaders

President Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Thuthukile Zuma, has been accused of meddling in internal ANC politics after she attacked both the party’s head of communication Khusela Sangoni and secretary-general Gwede Mantashe on her Facebook wall.

Thuthukile, who’s the youngest of Zuma’s four daughters with ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, shocked many of her Facebook friends when she pounced on Sangoni over an ANC statement expressing shock at the ANC Youth League’s recent press release criticising the party’s Gauteng leadership for the deaths of 94 mentally ill patients who died in nongovernmental organisations after being moved from Life Esidimeni centres in the province.

She wrote on the social networking site: “In my view Khusela’s statement about the ANCYL Gauteng puts the ANC into disrepute. This why unelected officials should not be writing statements on behalf of real elected leadership and about elected leadership. It just puts us in a mess. Can we stop juniorising serious posts in the ANC.”

Former ANC national media coordinator Nomfanelo Kota responded to Thuthukile’s post, saying her statements on the matter defied logic and spoke to a “creeping culture of entitlement by birth not by credentials to our body politic”.

“A little bit of advice to Thuthu and her siblings is that they refrain from treating ANC cadres who work hard with contempt.”

Thuthukile – who is also controversially the chief of staff in the department of telecommunications and postal services – called for Mzwanele “Jimmy” Manyi, known as a staunch supporter of her father’s leadership, to be elected to the ANC’s highest decision making body between conferences, the national executive committee.

She has described Manyi as the “real deal”.

“The SG [should] not pretend as [though] he is the organisation. Also, he is not a spokesperson. He is articulating his heart’s wants and desires, not an organisational position,” she wrote in her criticism of Mantashe.

On assessment of her Facebook posts, it’s quite clear Thuthukile wants her mother to succeed her father as the ruling party’s next president.

She once posted: “2017: sikolento yeDoek [we’re in this thing of the Doek] Revolution . #NDZ [Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma].”

In 2014, at the tender age of 25, Thuthukile was appointed to her current position to much public outcry over alleged nepotism. Ironically, Sangoni was one of the people who defended her.

Her criticisms come a few days after  Zuma’s eldest son, Edward, on Friday released a statement attacking Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy, Mcebisi Jonas, claiming that they are corrupt and have been using National Treasury as their “playground.”
