Zuma reportedly gunned for his critics during ANC NEC Lekgotla

Following the ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) Lekgotla last Friday, President Jacob Zuma reportedly hit out severely at his detractors during the meeting.

Zuma reportedly told members of the structure he was concerned the ANC was complacent in dealing with the party’s critics.

According to sources who spoke to Gupta-owned newspaper The New Age, Zuma apparently told the NEC if they were lobbied by other political parties and were going to take money from his attackers, they should do so openly.

“It was also said that he went further and told the NEC if they wished to kill the ANC, they shouldn’t allow it to happen at the behest of the opposition,” the report stated.

Zuma also said he was elected by the branches of the ANC, who could decide his fate, and not opposition parties.

The NEC Lekgotla in Irene, Pretoria, followed the governing party’s policy conference in late June, and comes ahead of a motion of no confidence in Zuma scheduled to take place in the National Assembly on August 8.

After the meeting concluded, reports emerged that Zuma and his enormous government motorcade visited the Gupta home in Saxonwold.

It was reported his 17-car blue-light motorcade shamelessly checked in at the compound in Saxonwold, in the north of Johannesburg, on Friday night.
