A woman from Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, has been arrested for faking her own kidnapping and demanding R4 000 from her husband. The husband reportedly panicked when he could not find his wife and child, only to receive SMSes from her phone demanding R4 000 for their release on Wednesday.

After contacting all their relatives, who said they had not heard from his wife, the husband immediately acted and arranged a meeting with the kidnappers, but also called police to accompany him.

He, however, told them he only had R2 000.

They found the bad guys who had been holding his lovely wife hostage, and they led them to where she was being kept.

They got to the house and, lo and behold, the wife was singing and relaxing in the shower, with the kid playing computer games, according to Daily Sun.

She was arrested and charged with defeating the ends of justice on Thursday. She, along with the two men she was reportedly working with, appeared in the Lenasia Magistrates’ Court on Friday. They are still in custody.
