“We are just here to survey things, we are here to prepare for the future,” EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu said on Thursday afternoon.
Accompanied by EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee, Shivambu and his colleagues did not say much as they walked on the red carpet ahead of the State of the Nation Address (Sona) to be presented later this evening by President Jacob Zuma.

Party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi told The Citizen on Wednesday that no amount of intimidation would deter them from protecting the country’s constitution, daring the army that has been roped in to be on standby in case the police need further assistance.
Reports coming through also indicate that some ANC members and supporters are also starting to gather ahead of the Sona.
