Weekend storm wreaks havoc in Middelburg

Residents reported trees falling, the tiles on roofs coming loose, and big branches in the roads.

Spending the weekend outdoors was definitely out of the question after a massive storm in Mpumalanga, which disappeared as quickly as it came, spared no time in wreaking havoc in the Middelburg region, reports Middelburg Observer.

Residents reported trees falling, the tiles on roofs coming loose, and big branches blocking the roads.

Vanessa van Niekerk from Pienaardam Leisure Resort said their camping area was seriously damaged during the storm.

A tree fell over and landed on a caravan, and tents blew away. Many guests at the camping terrain and the resort had to seek alternative accommodation, as roofs were blown off the resort as well.

Luckily, no injuries were reported.
