Severe thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in parts of Free State, North West on Tuesday

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, large amounts of small hail, damaging wind and excessive lightning, over the
western parts of North West and the extreme north-western parts of the Free State on Tuesday.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are also expected over Khai-Ma Local Municipality of the Northern Cape as well as Oudtshoorn and Laingsburg Local Municipalities of the Western Cape.
Tuesday’s weather forecast
Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm weather with isolated showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High.
Mpumalanga: Hot in the Lowveld, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. Drizzle and fog patches can be expected in places along the escarpment in the morning.
Limpopo: Morning drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west.
North West: Cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the west.

Free State: Fine in the west and central parts at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north and east but scattered in the extreme north-west.
Northern Cape: Cloudy along the coast at first with morning fog patches, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot over the central and eastern interior. It will becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-eastern parts.
The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly from the afternoon, moderating in the evening.
Western Cape: Partly cloudy to cloudy along the coastline with morning fog patches, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot in the central and north-eastern parts.
The wind along the coast will be light and variable east of Cape Agulhas at first, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme.
Western half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and warm to hot weather, becoming cloudy along the coast in the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Morning fog patches south of the escarpment, otherwise fine and warm to hot. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north-east. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the western interior
The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly. The expected UVB sunburn index: Extreme.
