Weather alert: Partly cloudy skies inland and mostly warm conditions in coastal provinces

The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Saturday, 26 April 2025.

Saws hasn’t issued any severe weather alerts for tomorrow, but you can expect partly cloudy conditions in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, and the Free State. Meanwhile warm conditions are forecast over the coastal provinces, except for KwaZulu-Natal, where it will be cloudy and cool. Here’s what you need to know.

Fire warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the north-western parts of the Western Cape.

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures are expected in the Richtersveld municipality, Northern Cape, until Sunday.

Provincial weather forecast

Here’s what to expect in your province on Saturday, 26 April:

Gauteng:

Residents of Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and cool weather conditions.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Mpumalanga:

Mpumalanga residents will wake up to morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme north.

Limpopo:

The day’s weather conditions will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers over the south-western parts.

North West:

Fine and cool to warm morning weather awaits North West residents, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Free State:

Residents of the Free State will experience morning fog patches in the east and along the Lesotho border, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool.

Northern Cape:

The weather will be fine and cool to warm, but hot over the north-western parts.

Western Cape:

Western Cape residents can expect morning fog along the south-western and southern coast, otherwise it will be fine and warm to hot, but cool in places.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “very high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Eastern Cape (western half):

Fine and warm weather awaits residents of the western half of the Eastern Cape.

Eastern Cape (eastern half):

The day will be fine and warm with evening fog along the coast and adjacent interior.

KwaZulu-Natal:

Residents of KwaZulu-Natal can expect cloudy and cool weather, with isolated morning showers along the coast.
