The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Friday, 9 April 2025.

Saws hasn’t issued any severe weather alerts but you can expect mostly partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions across the provinces. Isolated showers are likely in parts of Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal. Here’s what you need to know.

Provincial weather forecast

Here’s what to expect in your province on Friday, 11 April:

Gauteng:

Residents of Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and cool conditions, but warm in the north.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Mpumalanga:

Mpumalanga residents will wake up to morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers in the east.

Limpopo:

The day will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers.

North West:

Partly cloudy and warm weather awaits North West residents.

Free State:

Residents of the Free State will experience Partly cloudy and cool to warm weather conditions.

Northern Cape:

The weather will be cloudy and cool with fog patches along the coast and adjacent interior in the morning and evening, otherwise it will be fine and warm. It will become partly cloudy over the interior from the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Western Cape residents can expect partly cloudy conditions with morning fog patches over the southern interior, otherwise it will be fine and warm, but cool in places along the south coast. It will become cloudy along the west coast from the evening with fog patches over the northern parts.

The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “high”.

Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

Eastern Cape (western half):

Cloudy weather awaits Eastern Cape residents with fog in places, otherwise it will be fine and warm but cool in places.

Eastern Cape (eastern half):

The day will be cloudy and cool with morning fog in places over the interior and a chance of light morning rain along the coast north of Port St Johns. It will become partly cloudy later.

KwaZulu-Natal:

Residents of KwaZulu-Natal can expect morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain, but cloudy along the coast and adjacent interior.
