Extensive flooding and hail damage in various parts of Johannesburg damaged property and left residents with much to mop up on Sunday morning.

A hailstorm which ripped through parts of Johannesburg South, including Glenvista and Brackendowns, Alberton, has left residents with lots of mopping up to do on Easter Sunday, reports Alberton Record.

A thunderstorm began late yesterday afternoon, with torrential rain that later escalated to a hailstorm battered the above areas, with extensive flooding and hail damage.

A resident in Glenvista said her courtyard was still full of hail from Saturday’s storm. “It looks like deep snow, and we are praying we won’t get more hail later today. On Friday mid-afternoon, a thunderstorm hit which also brought hail.”

Gardens have been ruined, with ripped trees and plants left with no foliage and leaves.

A 60 percent chance of thunderstorms is predicted in Gauteng on Sunday afternoon, but with recent inclement weather conditions, anything could happen!
