WATCH: Traffic cop repeatedly slaps woman in Germiston

The officers have taken leave while the internal affairs department investigates the matter.

A video of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officer assaulting a woman at an intersection in Germiston has been circulating on social media, and people have been calling for her to be dealt with.

In the video, it seems the officers pulled the woman over, and an argument ensued.

The woman can be heard repeatedly shouting: “Who touched you?”, before the officer puts down a file she was holding and starts assaulting the woman.

According to EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasagothe, the altercation started after the woman refused to give the officers her details after being pulled over.

“The officer claims a woman attacked her first before the video was captured… she opened a case of assault and the woman laid a counter charge in the same police station, the following day.

“The officers have taken leave but our internal affairs department is investigating the matter…I cannot confirm to you when the officers will be back on duty,” Kgasago told eNCA.
