A video of a man stealing from a sleeping man on a train in Italy has emerged. In the video, a man can be seen sleeping while the passenger sitting opposite him tries to get as much as he possibly can from his bag.
The man unzips the bag, picks something he does not seem to like and returns it. After checking if the coast is clear, he goes for a second time, puts his hand in the bag and picks something (presumably money) that he likes.
When he goes for something else in the next pocket, the victim wakes up and catches the man in action and asks him what he wants.
People on Facebook, however, have criticised the man who took the video for doing nothing about it, while some argued it was staged.
“Camera man you saw the thief took the money and still allow him to leave? What if that was the last bit of money he had, to buy his baby some milk? Anything for some stupid likes,” wrote one, while another said the person who took the video presumably did nothing about it because they feared for their life.
The rest of the comments turned the issue into a debate on race and assumed the incident happened in South Africa, because that’s what some think the country is all about.
“This is not in South Africa 1. The language on the radio is foreign 2. The language from the victim is not South African. 3. Which train is this because it’s no Metrorail nor Gautrain?” Facebook user Tlou Magwai wrote in defence of his country.
