A very amateurish video clip of some wit dubbing over footage of our then president, Jacob Zuma, giving his final one-on-one interview to the SABC on February 14, hours before he agreed to resign, has been shared on social media … and it is stupidly hilarious.
In the original interview, a wounded Zuma played the victim and pretended to have no idea why anyone in the ANC would want to have him removed as the president.
He demanded reasons for why he had been recalled by his party, something that the ANC has never actually been provided. Eventually, Zuma simply resigned late that same evening after realising he had no hope of surviving a motion of no confidence scheduled in parliament.
In this clip, however, Zuma speaks Afrikaans in a Cape coloured accent and basically explains that he is scared of no one, not even Cyril Ramaphosa. The fact that the dubbing doesn’t even closely follow the movement of his lips just makes it even funnier, like on those old karate movies from Japan.
Check it out below. If you need a translation, it’s under the video.
“Ek … is bang vir niemand nie. Brrring hulle vir my. [I’m … scared of no one. Bring them to me.]
“Ek het die land goedgedoen man. [I did well by this country man.]
“Nkandla is klaar gebou. Daar’s nie probleme nie. My vrouens is uitgesort, verstaan jy? [Nkandla is already built. There aren’t any problems. My wives are sorted out, you understand?]
“Moenie kom worry van my nie, ek soek niemand se geld nie. [Don’t come and worry about me, I want no one’s money.]
“So los my net uit man. Laat my gaan man. [So just leave me alone man. Let me go man.]”
