WATCH: ‘I was hurt,’ says woman after being removed from Shembe march

The video has been widely circulated on social as people make fun of the poor woman.

Sphokazi Mbali Nyandeni, the woman who was asked to stop dancing with members of the Nazareth Baptist Church (Shembe) in Durban on Tuesday has broken her silence on the matter.

The eBuhleni faction, led by Mduduzi ‘Unyazi Lwezulu’ Shembe marched through the streets of Durban in support of its leader, and Nyandeni thought it would be a good idea to join them.

In a video that has been widely circulated on social media, Nyandeni can be seen dancing with the men in white robes before one of the members ask her to move out of the way.

The visibly shocked Nyandeni moves away.

Following the incident and circulation of the video, Nyandeni explained how she ended up on the streets of Durban dancing with the church members.

She said: “I was in my flat and I heard a noise and decided to go outside. I got there and saw the church members dancing. I love how the Nazareth people dance, so when that man removed me, I was so embarrassed. I thought ‘but I’m just happy and dancing with you guys.’

“I was so hurt, but I moved out of the way and watched them as they continued to dance. I was not being disrespectful, I just enjoy the way they dance, especially the men. I just saw people dancing and decided to join them.”
