WATCH: Furious Eskom evidence leader swears, threatens journalist
Please note: the video contains foul language that may offend some readers.
Evidence leader into Eskom’s disciplinary hearing of the power utility’s suspended CEO Matshela Koko, Sebetja Matsaung threatened to “take out” a journalist “the African way” on Friday.
In the video taken by The Times journalist, Kyle Cowan, Matsaung uses foul language and asks Financial Times deputy editor, Sikhonathi Mantshantsha “who does he think he is?”
According to Mantshantsha, Matsaung has since called him to ‘apologise” for his conduct.
“Thanks for your calls my friends, I won’t expose who you are. I’m good and safe. I must say though; Mzilikazi wa Afrika was threatened last week. Eskom evidence leader into the Koko Matshela hearing has called me and apologised,” he tweeted.
The hearing into Koko comes after he was suspended in August for allegedly not declaring conflict of interest when the power utility’s contract was awarded to a company linked to his stepdaughter.

Mantshantsha narrated the drama in tweets:
Major thing that pissed Matsaung off is being asked by @chrisyelland if this process is cooked. “I don’t know what the ingredients were.”

Hey folks, I’m very safe and still have all my teeth intact. I haven’t swallowed any of them when I downed my first beer after @Eskom_SA
