WATCH: Former Bosasa COO testifies at state capture inquiry

The former chief operating officer of the controversial Bosasa company, Angelo Agrizzi, will testify at the commission of inquiry into state capture on Wednesday.

Bosasa made headlines last year after reports surfaced that the company had allegedly paid R500,000 to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s son, Andile.

Agrizzi’s testimony will be on conduct relating to fraud, corruption, and money laundering implicating 38 politicians and senior government officials.

The head of the commission’s legal team, advocate Paul Pretorius, said Agrizzi’s appearance before the commission was kept confidential due to concerns for the witness’s safety and that those implicated had not been notified.

Pretorius said the evidence would be approached with caution because it could be fabricated or distorted, however, Pretorius said the evidence could also be reliable.

Advocate Pretorius said all the implicated parties would be informed and given all the relevant materials as the testimony of Agrizzi had to be dealt with caution.

Agrizzi reportedly arrived at the hearing with security personnel.
