Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s office was on fire on Friday.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s offices on Simmonds Street in the Joburg CBD are on fire.
People have taken to social media to share videos and pictures of the building, showing black smoke coming from the top floor.
The premier’s office on Friday confirmed the incident, saying the cause of the fire was unknown.
“We can confirm that a portion of the building of the office of the premier on 30 Simmonds Street is on fire.
“We have evacuated all officials, and they are safe. The Johannesburg emergency services are on site. We do not have information on what could have caused the fire,” it said.
