WATCH: Attempted house robbery caught on camera
When police ran the registration plates of the vehicle, they turned out to be cloned.
Screen grab taken from the CCTV footage of the attempted robbery.
At about 6.30pm on 8 February, an unknown number of assailants attempted to break into a house on Troupant Avenue in Magaliessig, north of Johannesburg, Fourways Review reports..
The incident was caught on camera and the public is being encouraged to contact the police if they have any information about the vehicle filmed.
The video, which appeared to be taken from a CCTV home security system, lasts for more than a minute and shows a large white BMW driving up to the house’s gate. One man emerges from the back seat of the vehicle, approaches the gate and attempts to pry it open by hand.

Once he seems to realise that he will not gain entry to the property, he returns to the vehicle. One can then see someone else in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
The car’s registration is PGX 083 GP.
Fourways Review spoke to the owner of the house, who said that he was not at home during the incident, but his little brother was. “He saw the car in the CCTV footage and pressed the panic button,” said the owner.
He told Fourways Review that when police ran the registration plates of the vehicle, they turned out to be cloned.
“The plates are actually registered to a silver BMW in Constantia.”
Anyone who has any information on the attempted crime, the vehicle or the man seen in the video is urged to contact the police immediately on 10111.
