WATCH: ANC MP brands Maimane ‘a white man in a black skin’
With insults being the norm in parliament, an ANC MP decided to retaliate and bring up Mmusi Maimane's 'coconut' ways.

The term ‘coconut’ is used to refer to a black person who is white on the inside, and it usually also refers to their accent or behaviour as well.
During the state of the nation debate that started on Tuesday, DA leader Mmusi Maimane was labelled as such, with Bongani Mkongi calling him “a white man in a black skin”, who he would not allow to demonise the ANC MPs.
During his speech, Maimane said it was the state against the state, after EFF MPs were aggressively beaten and removed from the National Assembly.
“We saw a glimpse of this future on Thursday night, and it looked very much like our painful past. The police in riot gear. The deployment of the army. The screams of female Members of Parliament as they were punched and kicked. A boot stamping on a human face. South Africa will never forget what happened on Thursday.”
