ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa arrived at the Absa Stadium, East London, on Saturday morning to much fanfare from his supporters, with the overarching message being that of unity and organisational renewal within the governing party.
Thousands of crowds gathered for the party’s 106 anniversary celebrations and broke into song and dance singing “stand up Ramaphosa, the time has come. The time for unity has come”.
Ramaphosa, who was elected ANC president during the party’s national conference in December, takes over the party’s reins at a time when it’s divided and desperately needs to be united.
