VIDEOS: EFF storms H&M stores in protest over ‘racist’ online ad

A large group of protesters dressed in Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) regalia stormed H&M stores in Sandton, Menlyn Park and East Rand in Gauteng on Saturday.

According to a News24 report, the protesters trashed the stores in an apparent protest of an online advertisement that has been labelled racist.

Earlier this week, H&M apologised and removed the ad of a black child after the company was accused of being racist on social media.

A photo on the company’s online website of a black boy wearing a green hoodie with the inscription “coolest monkey in the jungle” triggered outrage among observers.

A generic photo of the hooded sweatshirt without the modelling child is still available online.

News24 reported that REZA Crime Network reported shots being fired at the East Rand H&M. The REZA Crime Network urged shoppers to avoid the H&M in Santon City, which was trashed.

While at Menlyn Mall in Pretoria the group was seen protesting outside the H&M. The store had to be closed but not before it was completely trashed.
