Rand Water rubbishes claims of ‘poisoned’ Vaal Dam water

Strong waves in the Vaal Dam lashed at the shoreline and broke the wooden deck of a gazebo-like structure.
Storm Report SA on Thursday tweeted photos and a video, crediting Rina Mulder, of water lifting up the deck and surrounding the structure.
The extent of the damage is unknown at this stage.

This comes after Gauteng Weather (@tWeatherSA) on Twitter warned last Monday of possible flooding along the Vaal River after the Vaal Dam reached 100% capacity.

Rain fell in the Vaal Catchment area on Thursday evening, according to a tweet by weather follower, Emile van Rooyen, which was retweeted by Gauteng Weather on Twitter:

The SA Weather Service warned of possible localised flooding in Mpumalanga on Thursday evening, especially between 6pm and 9pm in the Delmas and Secunda municipalities.

On Thursday evening, Gauteng Weather tweeted that Johannesburg would experience the first single-digit lows of 2017 overnight.
