Tributes pour in for ANC struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada
African National Congress (ANC) veteran Ahmed Kathrada passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Politician and former political prisoner and anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Kathrada speaks about a new book launched by the Kathrada Foundation called Triumph of the Human Spirit, Ahmed Kathrada and Robben Island, 13 August 2015, in Lenasia. Politicians and media personalities have honoured ANC struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada who passed away following brain surgery.
Neeshan Balton, Executive Director of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, said the anti-apartheid struggle veteran “breathed his last today”.
Balton added: “This is great loss to the ANC, the broader liberation movement and South Africa as a whole. Internationally, he was staunch in his support for the Palestinian struggle. ‘Kathy’ was an inspiration to millions in different parts of the world”.
