A social media post circulating information of a planned shutdown affecting the Eikenhof Pump Station by Rand Water and causing a disruption to water supply in suburbs of Roodepoort, Randburg and Northcliff is incorrect.
This is according to Johannesburg Water, and the entity tweeted on Monday in a bid to dispel the rumours of a water shutdown in various suburbs in the north-west of Johannesburg on Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
Johannesburg Water said the fictitious social media post warned of a water shutdown from 6pm on January 24 to 7pm on January 25. “Please note that this information is incorrect and does not come from official sources and should be disregarded,” tweeted the water entity.
Johannesburg Water further stated that it would always send out media statements with its logos attached as well as contact details for more information.
“Statements that we issue to the public are always available on our website and social media accounts. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” warned Johannesburg Water.
