This past weekend, Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota made his way to the township of Alexandra to engage a group of senior citizens in conversations about the state of affairs of the country, land, and poverty.
He was reportedly invited to speak at the event meant to commemorate the birthdays of five residents who recently turned 100 years old.
Images from the meeting made their way on to social media and the lack of audience members immediately became the topic of conversation. Along the way, a number of social media users incorrectly stated that the images were taken at a Cope meeting which was not the case.
A social media user by the name of Brino Phaaloh later responded to one of the posts about a lack of attendance saying the venue later filled up and that those who were laughing at the initial images were participating in propagating a lie.
