Tavern owners called on to comply with bylaws

Liquor distributors in KwaThema, Ekurhuleni, have been warned to comply with the bylaws or risk losing their trading licences, reports African Reporter.
The group was warned during a meeting held at Ekurhuleni Metropolitan College on Wednesday morning.

KwaThema spokesperson Warrant Officer Peter Tebeila says the tendency of noncompliance will eventually result in serious ramifications for the traders.
“This may include the liquor licence being confiscated and the arrest of the trader.
“One of the biggest challenges we are facing is the traders who sell liquor without licences.
“We are advising them to apply for proper trading licences,” he says.
The traders were also warned against selling alcohol to people under 18.
