The deputy minister of telecommunications and the post office, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, has found her marriage on the rocks after her husband Thato had an affair, according to a report in the Sunday World.
The paper says that the deputy minister discovered that her husband had slept with African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) national executive committee member Sizophila Mkhize in the couple’s house in Silverton, Pretoria, earlier this year.
Mkhize allegedly considered taking her own life after Ndabeni-Abrahams posted pictures of her on Facebook with funny captions and comments, once the deputy minister had discovered the affair. She apparently sent a message to ANCYL president Collen Maine, asking him to intervene on her behalf and take care of her son and mother should she take her own life.
“I have never thought of taking my own life, but this is beyond me. President you know I have a son and I am the breadwinner at home. Please take care of my mother and my son. I’m sorry. I messed up. Maybe I’m a coward but it’s okay. I don’t deserve to live,” the paper quotes the message as saying.
Maine allegedly posted the message in a public ANCYL group after he fell out with Mkhize.
When contacted for comment by the Sunday World both Ndabeni-Abrahams and Mkhize denied the affair ever took place. Thato also has dismissed the allegations about the affair as untrue.
