The Athlone Bridge in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, will be closed on Sunday in order to determine the stability of the bridge.
Speaking to the Northglen News on Thursday, Durban North ward councillor Shaun Ryley said the road closure would come into effect from 7am on Sunday morning, August 6.
“The road will be temporarily closed from 7am to 10am. The closure is in order to undertake an essential monitoring survey to determine the stability of the Athlone Bridge.
“Kenneth Kaunda [Northway] will be closed between Athlone Drive and Humber Crescent. Southbound traffic will be diverted at Humber Cresent and rerouted to Riverside Road via Tyne Place or Soofie Saheb Drive. Northbound traffic will be diverted at Athlone Drive towards Riverside Road via the M4,” he said.
