Kelly Khumalo to cyberbullies: I know who I am; I’m no killer or abuser

The songbird has found herself having to defend herself from those who still blame her for Meyiwa's death.

Singer Kelly Khumalo fell victim to cyber bullying after a video showing Mampintsha allegedly assaulting Babes Wodumo emerged in the early hours of Monday morning. Khumalo trended on Twitter – along with Mampintsha, Babes Wodumo, and DJ Tira – for different reasons.

While social media users slammed Mampintsha and DJ Tira for Babes Wodumo’s assault, others suggested that Mampintsha should date Khumalo.

The Jehovah hitmaker has been on the wrong side of late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa’s fans and family after he died at her home in Vosloorus in 2014. Khumalo has been accused of withholding information that could lead to the apprehension of Meyiwa’s killers because she was at the scene of the incident.

She has, however, reiterated that she had nothing to do with it, and said everyone in her mother’s house was a victim of a robbery that night.

Speaking to fans at her Up Close and Personal with Kelly Khumalo concert in Johannesburg in 2017, Khumalo said she did everything she could have done to save her boyfriend that fateful night.

She said: “It was a great day. We were having a great day. Just as we were about to leave, there was a bang at the door and the door opened and two guys walked in. One pointed a gun at me, demanded money and cellphones and I ran to my sister’s room. He followed me, I pushed the door, trying to close it, he pushed back and I pushed again.

“Until today I do not know why he gave up on pushing but he did for some reason.

“Later on I realised that my children were in the house. When I opened the door, my mom, Senzo, and his friends were fighting the intruders. My son watched it all happen.

“Then Senzo ran into my hands. I thought he was trying to protect me from the intruders but he had blood on his chest and back; that’s when I knew he had been shot.

“We couldn’t even wait for the ambulance to arrive. We rushed him to hospital. I did everything I could. I didn’t want him to think I gave up on him.”

Four years later, she still gets bullied by those who insist on her knowing more than she has already shared.

But Khumalo is not having any of it and she took to social media to hit back at the cyber bullies.

She said: “I wonder what separates you cyberbullies from Mampintsha? I will never be broken by the broken! I repeat never!

“I know who I am and what I stand for, a killer and abuser is not one of them, which is more than I can say about you. With that being said, fuck you very much!”
