WATCH: DA ‘ANC is killing us’ billboard torn down

The DA's billboard naming past victims is under attack as a picture shows a group damaging the new billboard.

Pictures of people tearing down the newly unveiled “The ANC is killing us” billboard have surfaced on social media.

An image shared by Gauteng DA shadow MEC on health Jack Bloom shows the billboard under attack on Thursday. The billboard lists names of people who died in the Marikana massacre and the Life Esidimeni tragedy.

Bloom wrote in his post: “Our billboard on those who died because of the ANC is being vandalised, who is afraid of the truth?”

A tweet alleges the ANC sent people to rip up the billboard. “When will there be accountability for the deaths of the people whose names you are tearing up ?

The ANC’s acting national spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, earlier fielded criticism from people suggesting the ANC could not disown the actions of their party and noting their role in the tragic loss of lives in Marikana and life Esidimeni.

Kodwa replied by saying it would be irresponsible for the ANC to put up a billboard with the names of innocent women and children who were murdered daily in Cape Town by gangs where the DA governed.

He labelled the DA’s billboard as dirty campaigning.
