During the ANC’s electioneering campaign, called Thuma Mina, in Tembisa today, a shack caught fire as the party’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, was addressing residents of the location’s Tswelopele informal settlement.
News24 reports the fire – suspected to be caused by a primus stove – gutted the shack as Ramaphosa was talking about the need for electricity and decent housing to be provided for residents of the informal settlement.
Some residents reportedly offered a hand at attempts to douse the flames and salvage whatever they could from the fire.
