Construction continues on the ‘Double Decker’ section of the M1 this weekend

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) will be undertaking repairs to bridge joints on the M1 Double Decker Bridge this weekend.
The roadworks, on 9 to 10 September, will see traffic affected from Johannesburg south and west travelling northbound on the Double Decker Bridge will be affected.
The City of Johannesburg announced in 2016 it will spend R1.4 billion on the improvement of roads, storm water infrastructure and bridges to support economic growth and development by reducing traffic congestion, cutting down on travel time and facilitating the movement of people, goods and services.
The roads project forms part of a comprehensive investment in strategic infrastructure across the City of Johannesburg of more than R110-billion over the next decade.
JRA expressed its gratitude to motorists in advance for their patience and understanding while this necessary repair work to bridge joints is being undertaken.
