Rand Water warns the drought is not over

Residents are urged to save water despite the recent rainfall.

Despite the recent rainfall that saw the water level in the Vaal Dam rise to 71.62% on Wednesday morning, Rand Water is still cautioning residents to save water.

On Wednesday, Rand Water tweeted that the drought was not over along with an infographic that depicted the dam status and total storage capacity in the Upper Vaal Catchment area on Wednesday.

The water entity appealed for residents to save water.

Rand Water’s infographic showed that on Wednesday, the dams in the Upper Vaal Catchment stood as follows:

Woodstock Dam – 85%

Katse Dam – 49%

Sterkfontein Dam – 88.3%

Grootdraai Dam – 107.1%

Vaal Dam – 71.7%

Bloemhof Dam – 51.1%
