As service delivery protests rocked parts of the Vaal and East Rand on Monday, and to a lesser extent on Tuesday, in KwaZulu-Natal protests erupted in the north of Durban on Tuesday.
Police and Marshall Security on Tuesday warned motorists to avoid the M19 at the uMgeni interchange, reports the Northglen News.
This after protesters blocked part of the road by burning tyres and other debris.
Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen said while traffic was not severely affected, motorists should avoid the area.
It was not immediately clear what the protests were about. Similar scenes played out on Monday and metro police were forced to divert traffic.
Last year, several service delivery protests flared up after several shacks were destroyed in the area.
