Another reason for the power outage was due to a short-term loss of power in the electricity network.

A loss of power in the electricity network and a go-slow action at one of the electricity departments have left various suburbs in Centurion in the dark since last week Friday.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the city observed an increase in the logged complaints at the City’s electrical department and had since established teams from other zones to assist with the backlog.
“One of the reasons for the loss of electricity is a shortage of electricity as a result of a short-term loss of power in the electricity network.
“Moreover, the backlog is also compounded by a go-slow in the Region 4 electricity department. The city’s management is engaged in efforts to resolve the industrial action,” Mashigo said.
Mashigo said the city apologised for any inconvenience caused and promised to address the backlog speedily through the established contingency teams.
“We urge residents to not undermine their plight with unlawful actions and to appreciate that this dilapidated infrastructure is a legacy and we will do our level best to deal with the situation,” Mashigo added.
He said the city would also communicate with residents and update them as to when power would be restored.
“The City of Tshwane also wishes to inform its customers in Region 7 of a scheduled maintenance of the Zithobeni Reservoir tomorrow(Wednesday) from 8:00 in the morning.”
Mashigo said due to the planned upkeep and cleaning of the reservoir, the water and sanitation department would also shut down the water supply.
During the interruptions, water tanks would be available around the city and also at schools.
The interruption is anticipated to last for approximately 18 hours, accordingly affecting the following areas:
- Masada
- Cultura Park
- Bester Park
- Bronkhorstspruit CBD
- Riamar Park
- Zithobeni Ext 1; 2; 3; 4; 9 & 10
