The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has sent out an urgent notification to its Metrorail KwaZulu-Natal passengers of an immediate suspension of its services due to the looming bad weather alert.
The service suspension comes as a result of the safety concerns related to the strong possibility of flooding of the railway lines.
Passengers are encouraged to seek alternative transportation until the storm has passed, and Metrorail has assessed the post-storm conditions of the lines.
Only then will Metrorail be able to send an announcement on the resumption of services.
Passengers are encouraged to monitor the weather services and plan their travel accordingly.
