While their peers are campaigning and launching manifestos packed with election promises, the African Transformation Movement (ATM) is keeping it simple and appealing to the moral standing of their support base.
The party’s head of policy and strategy has appealed to voters to choose their party for three simple reasons:
They reportedly have the youngest president in South African politics and he is a BCom graduate who does not drink or smoke.
Manyi even went as far as emphasising the fact that ATM president Vuyo Zungula does not smoke “anything” at all.
While Manyi has made other promises on behalf of ATM, the aforementioned reasons seem to be the policy head’s key focus.
Manyi joined the party this month after apparently only hearing about them despite the fact that the party was established mid-2018.
The party already has a manifesto that was tabled last year prior to Manyi coming on board.
In the manifesto, the party asserts that it “does not present empty promises; it offers concrete commitments that will be implemented. As a political Peace Party, we believe that it is only through transformation of the society that we will end the suffering of our people.”
The ATM manifesto covers a range of topics and you can read the full document here.
