Suspect arrested in Sindiso Magaqa murder case
It was reported that the mayor of Harry Gwala District, Mluleki Ndobe, is the suspect arrested in connection with the murder.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a senior Harry Gwala district official in connection with Sindiso Magaqa’s murder.
A senior official at the Harry Gwala district, KwaZulu-Natal, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Sindiso Magaqa, who was a PR councillor at Umzimkhulu Local Municipality in the province.
Bayede News, an IsiZulu publication based in the province, reports that the district official is the mayor of Harry Gwala who is also the chairperson of the province’s Salga, Mluleki Ndobe.
Ndobe’s arrest comes in the wake of him being listed third in the governing ANC’s provincial candidate list for the party’s deployees to the KZN legislature, it was reported.
Ndobe was arrested alongside the municipal manage, the publication reported.
Magaqa was gunned down alongside colleagues Nontsikelelo Mafa and Jabu Msiya and later died due to complications from multiple gunshot wounds.
Ndobe’s arrest was confirmed by the ANC in the province.
The provincial spokesperson of the party, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, confirmed Ndobe’s arrest with News24.
The spokesperson said she could not be certain whether Ndobe was arrested for questioning or as part an investigation into Magaqa’s murder.
It was reported that the spokesperson of the Minister of Police Bheki Cele, Reneilwe Serero, confirmed that a senior district official at the Harry Gwala district municipality was arrested.
