More ANC staffers to lay criminal charges against their bosses – Niehaus

After being fired from the ANC after stating his intentions to lay criminal charges against the ruling party for not paying him, Carl Niehaus reiterated in a statement on Tuesday that he had apparently not been acting alone.

He invited the media to witness other ANC members laying charges of “theft, fraud, corruption and various statutory crimes” against five of the top six officials of the ANC, scheduled to happen on Wednesday morning at the Johannesburg Central Police Station.

Labour law experts have suggested that the dismissal of the uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans’ Association spokesperson by the ANC was not only unprocedural and unfair, but also illegal, since he was fired without a disciplinary hearing last week.

Niehaus is a staunch supporter of suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule, who hired him. He is also at the forefront of the “Hands-off-Zuma” campaign and has been a consistent mouthpiece for the Radical Economic Transformation forces.

ANC general manager Febe Potgieter told him to pack up his belongings and leave the party headquarters with immediate effect last week.

An irate Niehaus responded with a hard-hitting letter, acknowledging penning a media statement which stated his intention to lay criminal charges against the ANC for failing to pay staff salaries. He also accused the party of contravening the Unemployment Insurance Fund Act, Pension Act, pay-as-you-earn tax regulations and the Tax Act, as it had failed to hand over deductions to the state.

Niehaus indicated he would challenge the legality of, and procedures around, his dismissal.
