Malema: Outright majority parties arrogant, coalitions the best system
Malema maintains that whoever will go into coalition governance with the EFF must agree on the land issue.
With the elections registration weekend under way, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema believes coalition governance may be the best system to hold parties accountable.
The leader was in Madibeng in Wonderkop Ward 26 campaigning for people to register to vote. The coalition system, according to Malema, is able to hold all parties accountable, as those with a two-thirds or outright majority tended to be arrogant.
“Once you have coalition partners, no one is arrogant.”
He, however, warned that anyone wishing to go into a coalition with his party needed to know the EFF would not be backtracking on land expropriation without compensation.
“At the centre of anyone going into a coalition with the EFF is the land situation. We have to agree on the land situation. To the EFF, the land situation is non-negotiable.”

He maintained the EFF’s manifesto seeks to address the challenges of young people, such as unemployment.
“We need a manifesto that will stick to that clear programme.”
Manifestos needed to detail what the challenges were, what would be done, the time frame and the deadline.
The party is still in a coalition with the Democratic Alliance in Gauteng.
