Listen – Mashaba warns parties to ‘avoid ANC dollars’, put South Africa first

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has again reiterated that he is not willing to work with either the African National Congress (ANC) or the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

This in the wake of speculations that the ANC and the EFF are likely to enter into a coalition agreement post next year’s much anticipated general elections.

Speaking to The Citizen this week, Mashaba said they are going all out for next year’s general elections with the aim of unseating the ANC.

While a coalition government at national level seems unavoidable, the outspoken Mashaba has made it clear about who they are prepared to work with.

Senior digital reporter for The Citizen Stephen Tau invited Mashaba, to share his thoughts on the latest political developments in the country, including his party which saw its Gauteng chairperson Bongani Baloyi resigning and how ActionSA intends approaching next year’s general elections.

No compromise on ANC and EFF

“Our position is very clear, we will not work with the ANC nor the EFF.

“We have seen during the coalition drama in the City of Johannesburg with the buying of votes and that clearly tells you that the ANC has put our democracy on sale, and it is for this reason that we are calling on all patriotic South Africans to avoid the ANC dollars,” Mashaba said.

Various political parties have already started crisscrossing the country in a bid to solicit and secure votes from the electorate ahead of the polls described as the most important since the first ever democratic elections of 1994.

The countries three biggest political parties: African National Congress (ANC), Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), have already embarked on a range of activities reminding the electorate about the importance of voting next year.

The ANC led by Cyril Ramaphosa has already visited provinces such as KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the Free State.

The EFF has been engaged in what they call ‘Andries Tatane’ cleaning campaigns where they have been visiting various areas to clean and remove refuse.

At its recent elective congress, DA leader John Steenhuisen appeared to be worried about a possible relationship between the ANC and the EFF in the form of a coalition arrangement post next year’s polls, calling on other parties to join in on the so called ‘moonshot pact’ aimed at ousting the governing ANC and keeping the EFF out by securing a 51% coalition government.

During the previous local government election’s Johannesburg’s northern suburbs also saw some of the DA’s voters deserting the party for ActionSA.
