Journalist Quaanitah Hunter took to Twitter to share what appears to be a price list for “sponsorship packages” at the ANC gala dinner, which took place last night ahead of the party’s manifesto launch and 107th birthday celebrations on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
According to her price list, a single seat at any table would set you back R5000. If you wanted to show more support than just buying a standard ticket would, however, you would have needed to go for one of the special packages, which ranged from R50,000 to R500,000 – or even more if you go for the “individually negotiated” Titanium Package.
The euphemistically named Nickel Package, at R50,000, gets you a table of ten, while the Bronze Package, for double that (R100,000) gets you the same, only with 2 seats allocated to an ANC Deputy Minister or MEC and “another distinguished guest”.
This is followed by the Silver Package (R150,000), the Gold Package (R250,000) and the Platinum Package (R500,000).
The latter earns you the opportunity to dine at the table of Deputy President David ‘DD’ Mabuza.
Possibly most intriguing at all is the ‘Titanium Package’, for those who feel buying a R500,000 ‘Platinum Package’ is not a sufficient show of support. The price of one of these tickets vary, as the price list say these are “individually negotiated packages” – presumably, however, they would cost more than the half a mil it would set you back for a place at the deputy president’s table.
The ‘Titanium Package’ would, it appears, get you a seat at the “Presidential table”, as well as a table of ten, with eight seats nominated by the individual who buys the package and another “allocated to distinguished guests”.
