Dlamini-Zuma says Mbalula’s comment on Ramaphosa divisive

Minister in the presidency Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said comments made by African National Congress (ANC) head of elections Fikile Mbalula were divisive.

Mbalula’s comments were in response to ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule, who the head of elections said on Friday should know that the election of Ramaphosa as party president in 2017 was a “game changer”.

This comes after Magashule told journalists at the IEC results operations centre that South Africans voted for the ANC, not an individual, referring to Ramaphosa.

Dlamini-Zuma, who was Ramaphosa’s rival for the top ANC position two years ago, said she could not understand why Mbalula continued to talk about the president’s victory at the elective conference of 2017, which is divisive, the Sowetan reports.

Dlamini-Zuma questioned how Mbalula’s comments would help advance the governing party.
