Andile Mngxitama not phased by petition to ban BLF

Black First Land First (BLF) president Andile Mngxitama is not phased by a change.org petition to get BLF and the EFF banned from participating in the upcoming elections.

The petition, which was lodged by Steve Hofmeyr’s Toekoms Vonk, has garnered just over 25,000 signatures.

The petition, which closes on January 31 2019, claims “the EFF and BLF are the perpetrators of violence and hate speech against minorities in South Africa”.

Toekoms Vonk has begged the public to help them lay charges with the IEC against the EFF and BLF “to disqualify these two political parties from taking part in the 2019 election”.

The post was brought to Mngxitama’s attention but he did not seem phased by it.

Though he did not comment further on the issue, Mngxitama retweeted the sentiments of an account that is seemingly on the side of the BLF.

The Twitter user, who goes by the name @OdirileSOuL asked why there are no movements aimed at banning organizations such as the FF+ and Afriforum before taking the opportunity to take a swipe at the EFF.

You'd never see DA talk about FF+ or Afriforum being banned but these EFF numbskulls want BLF banned while talking "black unity". Never took them seriously, never will.

They lack Black consciousness.

The EFF has not yet issued a statement on the petition.
