Analysts pulling ‘rabbits out of bags’, says Lesufi on coalition predictions
The deputy chairperson says political analysts predicting coalitions post the May elections are suffering from a case of boredom.

There is a high level of boredom among political analysts, Gauteng MEC and ANC deputy chairperson Panyaza Lesufi said while casting his vote on Tuesday.
Lesufi cast his vote at the Thuto ke Maatla High School in Tembisa where he criticised analysts following an Institute of Race Relations study, last week, that suggested that the ANC’s national majority hung in the balance.
The poll suggests that the ANC’s campaign may have alienated supporters rather than energised them.
Lesufi retaliated to the presumption by saying he would not accuse political analysts of boredom but “there is a high level of boredom”.
“Because these elections are not highly contested like the previous elections, people have to take a rabbit out of the bag and speak about coalitions. There are far from being coalitions in Gauteng to be quite frank.
“What is it that this provincial government has not done for the citizens of the country?”
He said there have been major improvements under the ANC’s leadership.
“There is no reason to doubt the ANC. I really it’s boredom of political analysts to create something that excites, push[es] people to the polls.
“It’s obvious, number one has been taken, number one is Cyril Ramaphosa, the other political parties are fighting for 30%.”
He believes ANC supporters are still backing the party and said there was no reason the ANC would fall short at the polls.
