EFF ‘still not convinced’ by Solly Msimanga’s resignation as Tshwane mayor

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has repeated during a press briefing to announce their manifesto date that they were still not convinced by Solly Msimanga’s resignation as Tshwane mayor to focus on his Gauteng premier candidacy.
Party leader Julius Malema said believing Msimanga’s reasoning would mean believing the DA’s intent to cover up a much deeper problem in the white-dominated caucus of the Tshwane metro council.
“If we are to accept these reasons, then it must mean that there are different rules for black people in the DA. This is because Hellen Zille campaigned for the position of premier of the Western Cape whilst she held the position of the mayor in the city of Cape Town,” said Malema.
He said the party would not be participating in the election of a new mayor in Tshwane as they had lost confidence in the Tshwane DA caucus. This, however, did not mean they would support the ANC.
“We similarly cannot bring back the ANC through a backdoor when the people in Tshwane rejected them in the municipal elections of 2016.”
Malema said it was “common cause” that the ANC was the most corrupt in the country and the EFF would not aid them back to power because the ANC had looted the public purse with impunity.
The party will launch their manifesto rally in February at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve, Tshwane.
