“We ask for calm as the case is investigated and the perpetrators brought to book.”
Greenwood Park SAPS communications officer Sergeant Vincent Mthembu confirmed that a case of arson was opened at Greenwood Park SAPS.
“There are two rooms that are very badly burnt. At this stage we do not know who is responsible for the attack. A man was staying inside the mosque when he heard a bang on the window and woke up to find the mosque on fire. I encourage the mosque members to be calm and allow the investigation to take place. I urge anyone with information to call the station on 031 5716512 and report it to us,” said Mthembu.
